ABOUT SAN DAMIANO BOYS’ HOSTEL, KIULU

In early 2011, MYTC had taken under its wing, a Rural Youth Development Programme which is San Damiano Boys Hostel, located in Kiulu, about 50km from Kota Kinabalu. The Hostel was previously managed by the Franciscan Sisters to provide residential care to 60 (Form 1 to Form 6) school-going Youth who would find it impossible to walk to school due to the distances from their village homes. Under MYTC, the hostel facilities were upgraded to provide a conducive home and learning environment for the Boarders. The Hostel currently has six (6) staff to run the residential care programme along the same line as at MYTC main campus.

ST. MARY'S YOUTH HOSTEL

ABOUT ST. MARY’S YOUTH HOSTEL, SANDAKAN

In February 2014, MYTC spread its wings further and took on the management of St. Mary’s Youth Hostel in Sandakan. Under the arrangement mutually agreed to by the Bishop of Sandakan Diocese and the Titular Superior of the Brothers of St. Gabriel, MYTC will manage the hostel along the same line as San Damiano Boys Hostel in Kiulu.

The hostel has since been made conducive and pleasant to house 40 Boarders who need hostel facilities to enable them to complete their secondary school education. The Boarders attend school by walking to nearby SMK St. Mary’s Secondary School and comprise Boys attending Form 1 to Form 5.

The Hostel currently has (6) staff headed by the Manager in-charge to run the residential care programme with emphasis on after-school tuition in order to equip them for academic excellence, while not forgetting Montfort’s brand of character formation, discipline, spiritual guidance and good values to form Youth to realize their full potentials
